Working Group Sustainability was created in 2012 in the context of the preparation of a possible EU legislative framework on bioenergy sustainability. The preparation phase has come to a decision from the Commission to publish a legislative proposal on bioenergy sustainability in November 2016. The WG offers a platform to support Bioenergy Europe in elaborating its position on the proposed provisions and in raising its messages to EU policy makers and stakeholders. Key areas in this thematic include sustainable forest management, greenhouse gas emissions savings, and concrete consequences of EU requirements on economic operators. This WG is open to all Bioenergy Europe's members willing to participate in establishing the views of the EU bioenergy industry on the sustainability issue. Members of this WG represent the diversity of Bioenergy Europe's overall membership: national associations and companies of various sizes from both EU Member States as well as third countries, from all levels of the supply chain (biomass producers, equipment manufacturers, biomass users, etc.). The Chairperson of this WG is Kjell Andersson and its coordinator is Anna Martin.
